about us
Thank you for stopping by to visit my site. I hope you enjoy seeing my products as much as I enjoy making them.
My name is Teri McCracken and I am a stay at home mom with 3 children ages 16, 12, and 7. I have been fortunate enough to be able to be home to raise my children, however, I am the type that continually needs a project going. So, this is where I decided to start my business "hangups by teri."
Just to give you some background on how I build my wares, I begin with the best white pine I can buy, and in many cases I plane it down to the thickness I need for the project. I then trace my designs and cut them with the scroll saw. I either use my biscuit cutter to join my pieces of wood or a mortise and tenon joint. I cut, sand, wood fill (if necessary), and assemble each piece I create. I do not cut corners, and in many cases a custom box will take me more than a couple days to finish. I realize there are other ways to put out a product with preassembled parts purchased through a wholesaler, but this way I am in complete control of the quality that leaves my studio. This handmade process sometimes allows for small imperfections, which is common when working with wood. This only adds to the originality of each piece. I hope you can appreciate the time and work involved in this process. And...because of this you get a one of a kind, orginal piece of art.
I am very excited about what I do and I hope it shows in my work!
